Giwa Testnet Participation by Upbit Exchange

South Korea’s largest crypto exchange, Upbit, has officially launched the Giwa Chain on public testnet—marking its entry into blockchain infrastructure. Built on the OP Stack, Giwa stands for Global Infrastructure for Web3 Access, and aims to simplify Web3 onboarding with fast block times, low fees, and full EVM compatibility.
Developers can deploy Solidity-based contracts using familiar Ethereum tools, while users benefit from a dedicated Giwa Wallet for managing assets, NFTs, and dApps. With over 4 million blocks processed and 80,000+ daily transactions, Giwa is already demonstrating high throughput and stability.
The project positions itself as a financial-grade blockchain, with plans to support Korean won–pegged stablecoins and serve as a foundation for regulated digital finance. According to Dunamu CEO Oh Kyung-seok, Giwa will help South Korea compete in the global infrastructure race—bridging traditional finance with Web3 innovation.
